Congrats. :-) Where's the conference?
November 7-10 in Washington, DC. Will probably also be spending some time in the New York area around then with any luck (depending on a large stack of other matters).
Whee, make sure you say hi! If you don't have too much contempt for non-natural blondes, that is.
Meh, I can cope with them (my mother is now a non-natural blonde, so I've gotten used to them).
I will definately have to say hi, esp. as any help from people with local knowledge (/me attempts pleading expression) would be most helpful. Last time I was there, I had the major feeling that there was lots of things I really should go and see, but wasn't sure where to start. 'tis a problem with big cities.
I'd be happy to be your guide! What types of things would you like to see and do?
Yay! Not sure exactly. I spent about a day-and-a-half there last year so I've at least done a few of the tourist things (see statue of liberty, at least have a vague look at empire state building, gawp at size of buildings, wander around a bit, etc), but as I said, I'm sure there are lots of things I should see. That's what I want to see/do - anything you think should be seen, anything that ever made you think "now, that's just *cool*". I'm not sure what of these things New York has, but guessing from my experiences with the other cities I've lived in, there's definately got to be a whole bunch of things like that there (unless of course my years of watching miscellaneous sitcoms has been lying to me all this time...)
Wow! Does that count as famous? And as a geek - go you!
Somewhat. It's the 2nd largest conference for my area, and I do get to give a presentation there on it to a fairly substantial group of people, which rocks. Heck, one of these years someone might even *reference* me...
I did this sort of thing last year, so I do at least know what I'm doing this time around. And this time, its a bigger and more important conference.
